After more than a year of negotiations, mineral sands miner Iluka on Monday announced that it had abandoned its takeover bid for Irish miner Kenmare Resources, as the target’s largest shareholder had indicated that it would not support the transaction.
Iluka said that the interests held by the largest Kenmare shareholder was of a size such that it alone could likely prevent the implementation of the acquisition.
