US technology group GE officially opened its R500-million Africa Innovation Centre in Johannesburg earlier this month. The centre will enable the group to work collaboratively with customers and governments in the region on home-grown solutions to Africa’s many infrastructure and healthcare challenges. Besides being a “work space” for innovation, the centre is also fully green-building accredited – a fact arguably epitomised by the strikingly green and innovative backdrop of the building’s reception area.
