Undersea fibre-optic cable network operator Seacom on Tuesday announced the completion of its global Internet protocol (IP) and multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) network upgrade. The enhanced 17 000 km undersea network, which spanned across several key countries on the southern and eastern African coastlines, would offer “substantial advantages” to carriers and businesses looking to expand their communications infrastructure on carrier-class Ethernet, IP and MPLS platforms between Africa and the rest of the world.
