GOLD
Gold hopeful WPG Resources has lodged an application for a mining lease over its Tarcoola project, in South Australia, as the preliminary findings of a feasibility study indicated that the project could be successfully developed into a conventional openpit operation. The feasibility study for the Tarcoola project was expected within the next few weeks. The study would consider mining production rates of between 250 000 t/y and 350 000 t/y, mining ore from a large openpit, as well as a smaller satellite openpit, and processing using a proven heap leach approach to recover gold.
