Marula starts shipping manganese from Larisoro mine to Mombasa port

London- and South Africa-listed battery metals miner Marula Mining has successfully started manganese ore shipping from the Larisoro manganese mine, in Kenya.
Marula is transporting about 1 000 t of manganese ore from the mine to Nairobi under a recently signed export logistics agreement with Scan Global Logistics Kenya (SGLK).

Energy company SolarSaver has successfully completed a solar installation at the Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch and the African Pride Hotel, both of which are based in the Melrose Arch precinct in Gauteng.
Owing to the limited available roof space for solar panel installation, SolarSaver collaborated with property developer Amdec Group to find a solution.

PRASA passenger numbers reach 40-million a year, up 167% – Emeran

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) is “making steady and significant progress in getting passenger trains back on track”, with the urban rail service carrying about 40-million passengers in 2023/24 on 31 of the 40 PRASA rail corridors now operational, says CEO Hishaam Emeran. Emeran says passenger numbers have climbed by almost 25-million from a year ago.

Consultancy awarded US contract

Engineering consultancy Worley has been awarded a contract to provide detailed engineering and procurement services for underground infrastructure and surface-based non-process facilities of diversified miner and metals company South32’s zinc/lead/silver Taylor deposit, which is part of the miner’s greater Hermosa project, in Arizona, in the US. Under this contract, Worley will support the design and procurement of underground mechanical and electrical infrastructure for excavation, power distribution and dewatering, along maintenance and ore-handling systems.
