Venture capital sought to fund atomic rhino poaching deterrent

A South African startup that’s promoting the use of implanted radioactive pellets to deter the poaching of endangered animals such as rhinos is seeking venture capital support to roll out the project commercially. The Rhisotope Project, which began in 2021, last month inserted the pellets into the horns of 20 rhinos as the final research stage before marketing the technology. Now, in order to roll out the program, it needs to raise close to $1-million.

SAA to add 64% new destinations as it rebuilds

South African Airways (SAA) plans to add 64% new destination from its hub in Johannesburg by the end of April as it rebuilds its business to focus on regional and international routes after a deal with an investor collapsed. The company is aiming to add nine destinations to its existing 14 and also plans to boost the number of aircraft by 50% to 21 by March, interim CEO John Lamola said, adding that the South African flag carrier has the cash to fund its expansion.

Then they can spend days in queues outside the harbor before being shipped to countries such as South Korea and nations in the Middle East.
