Endeavour studying spill from Côte d'Ivoire operation

Endeavour Mining says it’s studying the damage from the leak of poisonous liquid at its second-biggest mine located in southern Côte d'Ivoire. Early reports show that a broken valve leaked 3 000 liters of mud containing cyanide into a canal within the perimeter of the mine, Endeavour’s country manager Laetitia Gadegbeku-Ouattara told journalists in Abidjan Monday.
US judge halts Biden administration's pause on LNG permits

A federal judge on Monday dealt President Joe Biden's climate agenda a setback by blocking the Democrat's administration from continuing to pause the approval of applications to export liquefied natural gas (LNG). US District Judge James Cain in Lake Charles, Louisiana, sided with 16 Republican-led states in holding that the US Department of Energy's freeze on approvals of LNG exports was "completely without reason or logic".

Côte d'Ivoire is planning to revise its mining code in order to increase state profits, the country's mines minister Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly said on Monday. The world's top cocoa producer, is seeking to develop its long-neglected mining sector to diversify its income sources. The west African country's mining code was last revised in 2014.

India is in talks with countries in Africa and Latin America to get critical mineral blocks on a government-to-government basis, Veena Kumari Dermal, joint secretary of the Ministry of Mines, said at an industry event on Tuesday. The official said that India is also in discussions with Australia for critical minerals.

Australia-listed Centaurus Metals has announced the results of a feasibility study for the Jaguar nickel sulphide project in northern Brazil, highlighting the strong economics from an initial concentrate-only project delivering a long-life production profile at first quartile operating costs. The study considers openpit nickel sulphide ore over an initial 18-year mine life, delivering nickel sulphide feed to a 3.4-million tonne-a-year conventional nickel flotation plant to produce about 18 700 t/y of recovered nickel metal at a C1 operating cost of $2.30/lb and an all-in sustaining cost of $3.47/lb.
Renergade discovers Ernest Henry-style IOCG breccia zone

Brisbane-based Renergade Exploration on Tuesday announced the discovery of a large iron-oxide copper gold (IOCG) breccia system at its Mongoose Deeps prospect, near Cloncurry, similar in characteristics to the nearby Ernest Henry mine, after its maiden drill hole reached a target depth of 1 612 m. Renergade chairperson Robert Kirtlan described the drill. Result as a “terrific reward” for six months of geophysics, processing, modelling, mapping and planning.
Deep Yellow initiates financing process for Namibia uranium project

Uranium project developer Deep Yellow has appointed Nedbank as the mandated lead arranger and bookrunner to coordinate and arrange project financing for its flagship Tumas project, in Namibia. The ASX-listed mining company says Nedbank has an extensive track record in financing mining projects across Africa. The current Deep Yellow management team previously worked with Nedbank in project financings for a uranium project in Namibia and a second African project.
Ironbark Zinc completes Mt Isa projects buy

Exploration company Ironbark Zinc has completed the acquisition of an 80% interest in the Simon and Anderson projects, in Mt Isa, Queensland, from fellow-listed Aeon Metals. The company finalised the acquisition following a successful site reconnaissance trip last month.
Australian Vanadium completes initial phase of optimised study

Exploration and development company Australian Vanadium (AVL) has completed the first phase of an optimised feasibility study for its Western Australian project, confirming the preferred development pathway for an integrated project. The company merged with Technology Metals Australia (TMT) in February, amalgamating their adjacent mining projects across one orebody at Gabinintha. This provided opportunities to realise synergies from creating a consolidated project.
