The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) has released requests for proposals (RFPs) for 24 underutilised State-owned properties across the country. Members of the public and private entities have until March 13 to make proposals on how these properties can be used to ensure they contribute to the public good, help ignite job creation and add value to their communities.

Logistics group Grindrod has reached throughput of two-million tonnes of coal at its Navitrade terminal, in Richards Bay, with the support and collaboration of State-owned Transnet Port Terminals (TPT). The collective efforts of the TPT and Grindrod teams, as well as TPT’s strong quayside performance, have been instrumental in breaking previous records and positioning the terminal for continued success, Grindrod states.

Distressed JSE-listed sugar producer Tongaat Hulett has announced that it will sell all its assets and operating businesses in South Africa to Vision Sugar South Africa. The purchase price for Tongaat Hulett's South African assets will be the fair market value determined by an appointed independent valuer, whose decision, absent any manifest error, shall be final and binding on the parties, plus an amount equal to the assumed liabilities, the company said in a statement.

Investment company Futuregrowth Asset Management has invested R150-million in small, medium-sized and microenterprises (SMMEs) finance and specialist supply chain support financial technology (fintech) company Sourcefin. Sourcefin works to bridge the critical R300-billion gap in SMME financing and empowers businesses to overcome working capital challenges and successfully fulfil public and private sector purchase orders, which are binding agreements on which the SMME is obliged to deliver.

Diversified miner BHP has been served with a representative class action proceeding that has been filed in the Federal Court of Australia in relation to allegations of sexual harassment and sex discrimination. The claim is brought on behalf of all women who worked at BHP's Australian workplaces at any time during the period from November 12, 2003, to March11, 2024, who were impacted by the alleged conduct.
Mandalay targeting gold production of up to 95 000 oz for 2025

TSX-listed Mandalay Resources Corporation is targeting consolidated gold-equivalent production of between 85 000 oz and 95 000 oz as part of its production and cost guidance for 2025. This includes gold output of between 76 500 oz and 85 000 oz and antimony production of between 1 050 t and 1 150 t.
